Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Jonathan Osborn ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use Numbers, a daily math puzzle available at playdailynumbers.com (the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
What we collect
We try to collect only what we need. Depending on how you use the Service, that includes:
- Account information. If you choose to sign in, we collect your email address (for the sign-in link or Google authentication) and a username you pick.
- Gameplay data. Your daily puzzle results, solve times, current streak, best streak, difficulty level played, and which day you played. This powers leaderboards and your personal stats.
- Subscription data. If you subscribe to NUMBERS+, we receive your subscription status (active or inactive), period of subscription, and product purchased from our payment provider. We never see or store your credit card number, bank account details, or other payment credentials — these are handled exclusively by Stripe (our payment processor) via RevenueCat.
- Group membership data. If you create or join a group, we store which users are members of which groups and when they joined. Group leaderboards display your username, solve times, and ranks to other members of those groups.
- Push notification tokens. If you enable push notifications, we store an anonymous push subscription token provided by your browser or device so we can send notifications you've opted into. The token is not personally identifying.
- Technical data. Standard information your browser or device shares automatically, such as your device type, operating system, browser, approximate location (inferred from your IP address), and timestamps of requests. This helps us keep the Service reliable.
- Feedback you send us. If you email hello@playdailynumbers.com, we keep the message so we can respond.
- Analytics. We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused service that does not use cookies, does not collect personally identifying information, and complies with GDPR. We track aggregate events like when users tap an "Install" prompt, install the app to their home screen, sign in, complete a puzzle (with the level and whether the puzzle was solved correctly), and tap "Share." None of these events are tied to your account.
- Anonymous play identifier. To count unique plays and active players — including people who play without signing in — we generate a random identifier, store it in your browser's local storage, and send it to our server with each completed puzzle. If you're not signed in, it stands on its own and isn't connected to any account or personal details. If you're signed in, it's stored in the same record as your account so we can tell signed-in and guest plays apart and avoid double-counting. Either way, it's used only to tally unique players — never for advertising or to track you across other sites.
We do not collect your full name, phone number, address, payment information, or precise location.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data to anyone.
- We don't share your data with advertisers.
- We don't track you across other websites.
- We don't use your email for marketing unless you've specifically asked for updates.
How we use your information
- To let you sign in and save your progress across devices.
- To display your username and solve times on leaderboards (today's leaderboard, group leaderboards, and frozen historical leaderboards from your puzzle archive).
- To calculate and display your streak and stats.
- To process subscription payments and manage your NUMBERS+ subscription.
- To send push notifications you've opted into (such as streak protection alerts, end-of-day ranking notifications, and group standings notifications).
- To respond to feedback or support emails you send us.
- To identify and fix bugs, improve gameplay, and understand overall usage patterns.
- To comply with legal obligations when required.
Where your data lives
We use the following third-party service providers to operate the Service. These providers have their own privacy practices, and we've chosen them because they're reputable and aligned with a minimal-data approach:
- Supabase — stores your account, gameplay, group, and subscription data on secure cloud servers.
- RevenueCat — manages NUMBERS+ subscription state and routes payment events to us via webhook.
- Stripe — processes credit card payments for NUMBERS+ subscriptions. Stripe receives and stores your payment information; we do not.
- Plausible Analytics — collects aggregated, non-identifying usage analytics.
- Netlify — hosts and serves the Service's web pages.
- ImprovMX — forwards email sent to hello@playdailynumbers.com to our personal inbox.
- Google — if you sign in via "Continue with Google," Google handles authentication and provides us your email address.
Each provider operates under its own privacy policy and security practices.
Public information
Public-facing parts of the Service include:
- Today's leaderboard. If you complete a daily puzzle, your username and solve time appear on the global leaderboard for that day. Top placements are publicly visible to anyone using the Service.
- Historical leaderboards. For past puzzle days, your username and solve time appear on the frozen leaderboard for that day.
- Group leaderboards. If you join a group, your username and solve times within that group are visible to other group members.
Don't choose a username you don't want shown publicly. You can change your username at any time from your account settings (coming soon — for now, email us).
Children
The Service is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has signed up, please contact us at hello@playdailynumbers.com and we will delete the account.
For users between 13 and 16 in certain jurisdictions (including the EU), parental consent may be required by local law before processing certain personal data. We recommend that users in this age range obtain parental permission before using the Service.
Your rights
No matter where you live, you can:
- See what we have. Email us and we'll send you a copy of your account data.
- Fix it. Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete it. Ask us to delete your account and associated data. We'll do this within 30 days unless we have a legal reason to keep something (rare).
- Take it elsewhere. Ask us to export your data in a portable format.
- Object to us using it. If you think we're using your data in a way you don't like, let us know.
If you're in the EU, UK, or similar jurisdiction with GDPR-style protections, you have additional rights, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you're in California, the CCPA gives you comparable rights. Either way, the easiest path is to email us first.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember your chosen difficulty level, save your progress between visits, keep you signed in, and hold the random analytics identifier described above. These are not tracking cookies. Everything except that analytics identifier stays on your device; the identifier is sent only to our own backend to count unique players, never to advertisers or trackers. You can clear local storage at any time through your browser settings — though doing so will reset your local streak and difficulty preference.
Push notifications
If you enable push notifications, you'll receive messages from us about events like streak protection, daily ranking results, and group standings. You can disable push notifications at any time through your browser or device settings, or by signing out of the Service. We never use push notifications for marketing or advertising — only for the specific features you've opted into.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), authentication, and access controls on our backend. No system is 100% secure, but we do our best and will notify affected users if there's a breach affecting personal data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll also let you know via email or an in-app notice before they take effect.
Governing law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
